Dior Joaillerie

I just spent an exorbitant amount of time on diorjoaillerie.com, and let me tell you... this site is FABULOUS. Not only do you get to peruse through gorgeous Dior pieces, but each collection is prefaced with its own introductory video. Be sure to watch the Milly Carnivora one! My favorite part about this site is music selection- definitely sets the elegant ambiance. Some pieces were a bit too much for my taste, but here are a few of my favorites.

Recently top fashion designers have been signing on to design affordable collections for everyday stores. (Remember that Jimmy Choo's H&M endeavor starts November 14th!) I recently stopped by Target for house supplies, and came across this adorable Anna Sui cocktail dress! Apparently Anthropologie has gotten jealous of all the attention these stores have been receiving, and have recruited Ruffian designers, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais. Their collection, called Mise en Scene, will be 40's inspired, and hits the stores in November. These collections will not only include clothing, but housewares as well. Lucky for us, Anthropologie has selected a few preview pieces for our purchasing pleasure.

Denim Jacket

I went through a phase when I thought I was too old for a denim jacket. What was I thinking? They're so versatile! I'm officially on the hunt for a new one.

First Sponsor- Yeoman Organics!

The Red Topaz is proud to introduce her first sponsor, Yeoman Organics! This San Francisco based clothing company was born to counteract the apparel industry's ambivalence towards organics as a superior method for making garments.

"We are rogues in the apparel world, going organic and local from the get-go. Yeoman is a lifestyle. It means to work hard at a worthy endeavor and to succeed. We will work like yeomen to bring organics into fashion."

I'd say their goal as a clothing company is similar to that of the "slow food" movement, which is something I appreciate and admire. I also adore their leaf icon!

Sex and the City 2

Two days ago, SJP the rest of the cast started shooting for the Sex and City movie sequel. Naturally the paparazzi had a field day and this picture is the result of their efforts. I'm confused as to what is going on here. Theme party? Time travel? I wasn't fond of the first movie (spoiler alert: Carrie still married Big?!? Miranda forgave Steve?!!??!) and nothing about this "preview" makes me very excited for the sequel, except for maybe those circular suitcases. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED the show. Release date is May 2010.

Rebecca Taylor Spring 2010

Here's a sketch from Rebecca Taylor's Spring 2010 collection. I'd be willing to skip winter completely. Taylor says, "Spring 2010 encompasses playful use of colors, prints and textures. The palette is intense with shades of big apple reds, shocking pinks, electric blues, and retro jades contrasted with desert tans and soft, peachy oranges. Sharper than seasons past, strong shoulders and a new, waisted silhouette enhance the look our girl wantonly craves.” I feel good about this collection.

Chubby Hubby Turns Hubby Hubby

In celebration of Vermont legalizing same sex marriages, Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby is changing its name to Hubby Hubby for the month of September. Even though it will only be available in the Ben & Jerry's ice cream parlors of Vermont, the message is national. California, I am disappointed in you.
