Otto E Mezzo (plus one half)

Federico Fellini's Otto e Mezzo (Eight and a Half) was made into a Broadway musical called Nine, back in the 80's. This November a movie version will be released, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as Guido Contini! Can a successful musical representation of Fellini's famous autobiographical film be accomplished?? I know I'm excited to find out.

Also, here's the original Otto e Mezzo American trailer.

David Downtown

If ever I get a portrait done, PLEASE let it be by David Downtown! His fashion illustrations are sassy, chic, and have a vintage feel. I adore them. All of them. I posted this picture because of the red accent.

Udon

I ate these noodles a year ago when I visited Tokyo. I haven't stopped thinking about them since.

D&G Tarot Card Frangrances

D&G (Dolce and Gabbana... HELLO!) has come out with five new fragrances, each inspired by the mysterious meanings of tarot cards. These specific cards were chosen: I. (the seducer), III. (the diva), VI. (the romantic) XVII. (the dreamer), and X. (the risk taker). Which one are you?

I. Le Bateleur (The Magician)
The Card: Indicates someone with an open heart; an incurable romantic who is intensely desired by others, aka the "seducer," say Dolce and Gabbana.
The Scent: A sensual rush of bergamot, pink pepper, and juniper berry, rooted by cardamom, birch leaf, wood, and musk.
Perfect For: Megan Fox, Gisele Bündchen, Zoë Saldana
III. L’Impératrice (The Empress)
The Card: Most tarot readers believe this card symbolizes a person with great power and strength of character. According to the designers, she’s a “star, ”magnetic, energetic, and charismatic—a real attention-grabber.
The Scent: Top notes of rhubarb, red currant, and kiwi meld dramatically with a floral heart, deepened by base notes of sandalwood, grapefruit, and musk.
Perfect for: Madonna, Beyoncé Knowles, Lady Gaga
VI. L'Amoureux (The Lovers)
The Card: Represents a “charmer,” who knows what she wants and how to get it; someone who is provocative, resourceful, and passionate but also distinctly cool.
The Scent: It has a spicy cardamom and juniper berry float atop an aquatic accord that is grounded by an earthy base of vetiver and white cedarwood.
Perfect for: Angelina Jolie, Dita Von Teese
XVIII. La Lune (The Moon)
The Card: Signifies a “dreamer” who is in touch with her creative side, an alluring and ethereal free spirit. Like the moon, she is radiant, inspiring, and mysterious.
The Scent: Lily, tuberose, and rose notes blend softly with a base of musk, sandalwood, and leather. Top notes of bergamot and apple provide a green twist.
Perfect for: Drew Barrymore, Kirsten Dunst, Zooey Deschanel
X. La Roue de La Fortune (The Wheel of Fortune)
The Card: Representative of luck and change. This one’s for adventurous types, “players” say the design duo, who enjoy surprises and rolling the dice of life.
The Scent: Sparks of unexpected pineapple and green notes brighten a lush heart of tuberose, gardenia, and jasmine. Robust patchouli, vanilla, and orris provide the base.
Perfect for: Lindsay Lohan, Katy Perry, Cameron Diaz
If I could pry myself away from my Anna Sui, I'd wear L'Amoureax. From elle.com

FCUK cleverly

This is one of the most clever ads I've ever seen. It's for FCUK, or French Connection United Kingdom.

Anna Sui Eu de Toilette

I claimed this Anna Sui fragrance as my own in the eighth grade. I haven't stopped wearing it since. I was originally attracted to its cute bottle, but I love the scent! I rarely leave the house without a couple spritzes in my hair and on my wrists.

This is what Anna herself has to say, "ANNA SUI fragrance is of cultivated, refined and stylish vintage, expressed in a mixture of trend and nostalgia. For the self confident, stylish woman who walks the line between cutting-edge and classic. An unconventional mixture: A perfect and rich combination of floral, powdery and fruity accents. Bergamot, Raspberry and Apricot embrace what lies beneath: the soft earthiness of Rose and Jasmine, Cedarwood and Powdery Tonka."

Extra Functional Suitcases

I absolutely adore vintage suitcases, especially the circular ones. Modern ones are durable and can withstand the rough baggage handlers, but they are aesthetically blah. On Etsy.com I found this vintage suitcase turned vanity, complete with electricity! This Louis Vuitton suitcase-desk also caught my eye.

Hermione's Red Couture

About a year ago, Vogue Italia featured our darling Hermione, aka Emma Watson, modeling the most stunning couture dresses and the most expensive jewels (they come with their bodyguard!). What a vixen she's become! I had to revive this old news to bring this red couture piece of heaven to everyone's attention.

Click to see more. Get it, girl.

Prima Donna

I was ecstatic to hear that Rufus Wainwright was commissioned to write his first opera! It is called Prima Donna and it premiered two days ago at the Palace Theater in Manchester, UK during the Manchester International Festival. If only I was there! If only I was able to go to one of the performances! There apparently was talk of bringing Prima Donna to the Metropolitan Opera, but that plan fell through due to the MET's overbooked calendar. Wainwright was commissioned to write Prima Donna in attempt to attract younger audiences to the genre of opera... a very good call in my opinion. I managed to find a youtube videoof Rufus giving a sneak peak of an aria during a concert in Paris. Don't let this mislead you though... he will not be performing in Prima Donna.

His voice never fails to captivate me.

Fourth of July Treats

Just some small, delicious treats I had over the Fourth of July holiday...

marshmallows dipped in bourbon then flambéd over fire

figs with prosciutto

mochi of all varieties

The Uniform Project

Like many of my peers, I work for free... It's called interning. I have an expensive lifestyle, yet no income. With all things considered, it is definitely time to get smart about expenses. I need to think more like the creator of The Uniform Project. For one whole year, she will wear the same plain, black dress. However, everyday she will creatively concoct a different charismatic outfit by adding accessories and layers. Her demonstration of sustainable fashion is a good lesson to women or men who have the constant urge to buy a new outfit, but do not have the resources to do so. Here are some of my favorites:

She accepts donations in monetary or accessory form. All proceeds go towards the education system in India.

Happy Fourth!

Who doesn't love barbecues and fire in the sky? Yes.... July Fourth is my favorite holiday. It reminds me of my east coast childhood... the good old days! This year I'll be celebrating with my fam and leading man down in LA.
