She & Him: "In the Sun"

Here's a sneak peak from the new album by She & Him (M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel) called, Volume Two. It is said to hit stores March 23rd!

The back-up vocals were done by Tilly & the Wall. Don't they add such an up-lifting, gospel quality to the song? As always, Zooey's voice is smooth and concise. What did you think?

Skin by Chanel

Has skin become the latest fashion accessory? Ryan Mc Sorley has designed a smooth pebble-shaped skin care box set, complete with toner, cleanser, etc. This seemed completely normal until I realized that it also comes with a headband that imprints the Chanel logo into your forehead. This imprint shows the public that you use Chanel Skincare, and only Chanel Skincare. It's like when the label from your blouse accidentally sticks out in the back... except this is on your forehead. Does anyone else think that the headband would be incredibly uncomfortable to wear at night?

"Just as we can define ourselves through the brands of clothing we wear, or the brand of mobile phone we have, we can now define ourselves by the brand of skincare product we use. If you are using skincare by Chanel, you want people to know that your skin is by Chanel, in the same way that Chanel handbags have clear branding, why shouldn’t our skin.”

Would you eat it?

I came across these cookies inspired by Lady Gaga's flamboyant wardrobe, and thought they were clever. Would you take a bite out of this pop artist?

I'm not a big fan a pop music. Actually that's an understatement... I'm not a fan of pop music at all. Buuuut I'll give Lady Gaga some credit for having genuine talent, outrageous creativity, and knowing how to please an audience. Apparently she attended Tisch! Girlfriend milks her fame for all it's worth. (I would too!) All in all... I'd eat that.

Golden Globe Awards 2010

My nominees for best dressed are...
Golden Globes, Golden Globe Dresses, Golden Globes Awards, Golden Globes 2010

1. Elisabetta Canalis in Ferragamo. I love the mid section weave detail, and the smooth drape of this dress. She gives George Clooney a run for his money.
2. Sofia Vergara in Carolina Herrera. The burgundy accent and the cascade back are so classy!
3. Toni Collette in Elie Saab. I'm not one to covet a plethora of sequins and jewels on clothing, but this dress definitely does it right.
4. Penelope Cruz in Giorgio Armani Prive. No matter what she wears, she will always, always be my favorite.

Can't wait for the Oscars.

Haiti

I'm off to Denver for the long weekend to visit some dear friends/sisters! I'm excited to visit a state I've never been to.

Meanwhile, if you want to do something worthwhile, help Haitians by texting "HAITI" to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross, or "YELE" to 501501 to donate $5 to Wyclef Jean's earthquake relief fund. The money will be added to your next phone bill. I found some excellent photos and crucial information about relief programs on photographer Marlon Krieger's blog. Please visit! See you Tuesday.

Movie-Album-Food

A movie, an album and food that should be experienced simultaneously. Volver is one my favorite movies of the decade. Any suggestions on what to do for next Monday?

Forgetful Gentleman

I found this site called Forgetful Gentleman, and decided to do a follow up post for the guys. Creators Nate and Brett have set out to help men everywhere maintain (or obtain) a "gentlemen" status. I think women everywhere owe them a big "thank you."

Forgetful Gentleman- n. a classy, modern man whose busy lifestyle often interferes with his well intentioned plans

One Size Fits All

Terry Richardson, Crystal Renn, Jacquelyn Joblonski

Terry Richardson's latest editorial, a bold, side by side comparison of two opposite sized models, graces V Magazine's latest issue. Whether a size 2 or 12, I think both of these women look fierce.

Current Reads

A new decade calls for some new reading...
Photobucket

1. Donna Leon's Acqua Alta- a crime/suspense novel set in Venezia. Makes me nostalgic! This was a recommendation from the Sinnotts.

2. I love Macarons- a Christmas present from my mom, warranted by my failed attempts of making this delectable dessert. A lot of good tips in this book by Japanese chef Hisako Ogita.

3. On the Track- a book dedicated to film scoring. It encompasses everything from composing techniques to the ins and outs of the industry.

It's refreshing to have some time to spend on personal reading. Please give me more recommendations!

Audible Accessories

My posts are usually female-centric, so here's one for the men. I came across these accessories created from sonic fabric... 50% colored thread and 50% recycled audio cassette tape. The fabric is actually audible if you run a tape head over it! Below is a video from the creator of how this can be done. Click here for more products and purchasing information. Found on supermarketq.com!

16 Favorite Movies of the Decade

Happy 2010! I just returned from Christmas in LA and New Years in Tahoe, so please excuse my absence from the blogosphere. But before we get ahead of ourselves, I want to recap the past decade (2000-2009) with a list of my favorite movies. Here they are in chronological order...

What's on your list?
