Photo of the Day - Nicholson & Penn

Jack Nicholson Sean PennAvert your eyes, little ones. Smoking is bad. This picture, however, is the definition of cool. It could very well undo all of the noble work the anti-smoking campaigns put forth. If only they could make non-smoking look this incredible. Jack Nicholson and Sean Penn could rule the world together. By the way, Nicholson is seventy-three years old.

Credit goes to this humbling blog, whose photos will make you realize just how uncool you really are. By the way, who took this photo? When? Where? I couldn't get my hands on the details. Please enlighten me if you know!

I've been dying (ok, I'm exaggerating) to go to a Laker game to catch a glimpse of Jack  in the flesh. It would definitely be worth spending money on a sporting event that I have little to no interest in. At least I could seek refuge at the concession stand, right? Who doesn't like a sporting event hot dog?

Happy Sunday!

Polaroid Update

Polaroids
Here's a few select photos taken during the ten days Marc and I spent in sunny, sunny LA.
It's amazing how much time I've spent in Los Angeles, yet I still can't find my way around.
The sprawling boundaries of the "greater LA area" are daunting.
Having some sunshine, being touristy, and spending time with friends and family was incredible... not to mention going to my first movie premiere.
I'm more than ready to transplant my life.

Elvis & Sofia

Elvis Presley Sofia LorenElvis Presley and Sofia Loren... this duo makes me swoon. These photos were supposedly taken just moments after they met. How natural they look together.

Anyway, I apologize for my absence. Life is busy, busy, busy. Expect a Nashville update in the near future.

Meanwhile, please check out my blog roll. Right now it's bear bones, just friends and favorites. I'm in the process of building it, so email me if you want to be added! theredtopaz@gmail.com

Wendy Bevan for Marie Claire Italia

Photobucket
In April's issue of Marie Claire Italia you'll find fashion photographer Wendy Bevan's old-world circus-themed spread. There's no doubt that I'm captivated by these eerie photographs, but I'm even more in awe of Bevan herself. Shes a well-rounded artist- a photographer, filmmaker, musician, and even model. She recently hosted a Jazz Club night at Bungalow 8, a members only club in London, that concluded with a jam session led by Wendy herself. Her first film, Reaching for the Moon, was inspired by the Italian Marie Claire circus photoshoot, and brings to life the haunting, mysterious photographs. Wendy herself performed the soundtrack. Please watch this admirable piece of work and tell me what you think!

Saturna Island

Saturna is a gulf island of British Columbia that was recently featured in Sunset magazine. I recommend staying at the Saturna Lodge if you ever make it up there.
